ABOUT THE FORUM

The Forum is governed by a Voluntary Board. The purposes of the organization are exclusively educational and charitable. Our goals include the betterment of the scope and services of women in orthopedic surgery with a major emphasis on arthroscopy and sports medicine. Collaborated group clinical research and reporting is encouraged. In addition, we promote and stimulate interest and research in these areas, as well as advances in orthopedic technology.

We provide a collegial environment for women in this subspecialty of Orthopedics that encourages advancement of physician and patient education, support for our members involved in research and publication, as well as advocacy for female Sports Medicine providers. At our Annual Meeting, our Members present original research projects, review current Sports Medicine trends and practices, present cases and discuss patient management. We keep up to date on industry trends, using presentations and hands-on labs to focus on techniques in diagnosis and surgical management. We also address concerns related to the changing landscape of Medicine, especially as it impacts the practice of Orthopedic Surgery. Another focal point for the group is the growing interest of Physicians, patients and the public regarding gender specific orthopedic injuries and treatment options. In addition to our Annual Meeting, there is always time during other national orthopedic meetings – including the AAOS, AOSSM and AANA meetings – to meet for breakfast and share other professional and social opportunities.
