Welcome to The Forum
The FORUM is comprised of renowned leaders in sports medicine and women who are pioneers in the treatment of sports related injuries. Our Society was started in 1999 to develop a “forum” for the limited number of women practicing orthopedic sports medicine, and it has since grown to over 90 members.
Mission Statement
To support the fellowship, education, advancement, and success of women in orthopedic sports medicine through advocacy, collaboration, and knowledge exchange in arthroscopic surgery, sports-related injuries and orthopedic industry and technology.
Over 20 years ago, Pam Whitehead, with the support of DonJoy Orthopedics, was instrumental in inviting a group of fellowship trained, female Orthopedic Surgeons to an inaugural meeting in San Diego. This group evolved into the organization we now call The Forum – which provides a unique “forum” for scientific discussion and support among women orthopedic sports medicine surgeons.
